This tool extracts text from text-based PDFs. Scanned PDFs (images) require OCR (Optical Character Recognition) which is not currently supported. Best for PDFs created from digital documents.
Is there a file size limit?
The tool can handle large PDFs, but browser memory limitations may affect very large files (100+ MB). Most standard PDFs (under 50MB) process smoothly.
Are my PDF files uploaded anywhere?
No! All extraction happens locally in your browser using PDF.js. Your files never leave your device and are not uploaded to any server.
Does it preserve formatting?
The tool extracts plain text without formatting like bold, colors, or layout. It focuses on readable content rather than visual presentation.
Can it extract text from encrypted PDFs?
Password-protected or encrypted PDFs cannot be processed. You'll need to unlock the PDF first before using the extractor.
How are pages separated in the output?
Each page is marked with "--- Page X ---" separators to show where content from each page begins, making it easy to navigate the extracted text.
Can I extract specific pages only?
Currently, the tool extracts all pages. If you need specific pages, you can manually copy the relevant sections from the output.
What happens to images and tables?
The tool extracts readable text only. Images are skipped, and table text is extracted but may lose column/row structure in the plain text output.
